Members of the RA NA Delegation to NATO PA Take Part in Rose-Roth Seminar in Rabat
1 / 2

On April 20-22, the Head of the National Assembly Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly Koryun Nahapetyan and the member of the Delegation Tevan Poghosyan took part in the 91st Rose-Roth Joint Seminar of NATO PA Mediterranean Sea and Near East Special Group in Rabat (Kingdom of Morocco).

The key themes of the Seminar agenda were the regional developments in the Near East, the crisis in Syria and Iraq, the refugees’ problem, the united strategy in fighting the terrorism and extremism, the finacning of terrorism and other items.

In the context of the regional problems the Armenian Delegation presented the war unleashed by Azerbaijan at the beginning of April, its consequences and developments. In their responses the delegates of Azerbaijan and Turkey made attempts of implementing anti-Armenian campaign. All those attempts had adequate answers by the Armenian Delegation. Koryun Nahapetyan, particularly, underlined Azerbaijan’s connection with the ‘Islamic State” terrorist organization, touching upon the penetration of the armed people of the ‘Islamic State’ to the South Caucasus and with the style of that terrorist organization the murders and atrocities committed by the Azerbaijanis towards the Armenian civilians and servicemen.

Turkey’s deconstructive role in the South Caucasus and in the Near East was also presented. Koryun Nahapetyan drew the delegates’ attention to the fact that Turkey shows active support to the terrorists of the ‘Islamic State.’ He also underlined that Turkey had not recognized the gravest crime committed against humanity, the Armenian Genocide. The Head of the Armenian Delegation indicated Turkey’s destructive role in the destabilization of the regional situation through assisting the terrorism at high level and instigating Azerbaijan to new aggresstive actions.

The member of the Delegation Tevan Poghosyan has underscored that in the conditions of the modern information flow it is hard to conceal the real situation. He has touched upon the UN four resolutions being speculated by Azerbaijan, noting that Azerbaijan makes reference to only one paragraph; meanwhile the resolutions also contain provisions on the Defense Army of Nagorno Karabkh Republic. Tevan Poghosyan has stated that Nagorno Karabkh Republic has won in the previous war, also has won in this four-day war, and if Azerbaijan wants to solve the conflict through peaceful means, then it shall recognize the Nagorno Karabkh Republic, debating around the negotiation table the requirements of numerous resolutions adopted previously and the signed agreements.

During the Seminar the members of the Delegation raised a number of interpellations and voiced positions on terrorism financing terrorism and extremism, including fighting against the mercenary, as well as other problems of international security.
